Incised Japanese Celadon Chawan A Japanese chawan, or teabowl, of mottled celadon green-gray glaze with brown splotches and an incised floral decoration, measuring 4 1/2 X 3 1/4 ins., dating ot the mid 20th century. The bowl has a broad footrim with an impressed three-character Kanji seal. It is in fine and original condition.

Wheat Sheaf Chawan A fine chawan, or teabowl, in temmoku shape, measuring 4 1/2 x 2 ins., dating to the early to mid 20th century. This bowl is made of finely levigated white clay that is covered with a celadon glaze. The artist has painted designs of wheat sheaves and circles in iron oxide that have fired to a rich brown and deep black. This bowl was made in England, possibly by a disciple of Bernard Leach. It is from the collection of an English gentleman. The bowl is in fine and original condition.

Fine Lacquer Japanese Tin Tea Caddy <p><b>A fine Japanese tea caddy made of tin, measuring 5 ins. overall in height, dating to the 19th - 20th century.</b> The caddy is coated with a layer of brown-red lacquer. It is accented by both flat and raised gold and tree-bark lacquer in a bird in tree design. The top has a stylized lion finial. There is an interior cap to the compartment. There is loss of some of the lacquer on the reverse and some overall scratches.

Boxed Set of Japanese Chaire A boxed set of pottery and porcelain Japanese chaire or tea caddies, consisiting of two chaire and two tea scoops, dating to the last 50 years. the first chaire measures 2 1 1/4 ins. and is covered with a yellow-brown Seto glaze on fine, creamy clay with a black glazed top. The second chaire measures 2 1/2 ins. across X 1 in. high and has a crackled, cream glaze interior, a black exterior and three cuts in the foot. The lid is signed on the interior in black. The top has a unique bamboo knot handle. The wooden box measures 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 6 1/2 and is signed and sealed on the front.

Superb Large Japanese Temmoku Chawan <p><b>A beautiful Japanese temmoku chawan, or summer teabowl, measuring 7 x 2 ins., dating to the last 50 years.</b> The bowl has a soft white, matte glaze that creates a hare’s fur effect on the interior ands spills over the outside. The rim carries a beautiful blue-green glaze reminiscernt of Oribe pottery. It is signed on the base by the artist. This bowl was obtained from Japan and is the work of a tea ceremony master potter.
