Chinese Interior Painted Snuff Bottle
A Chinese glass, interior painted snuff bottle of a man on a donkey in a landscape scene wrapping around the bottle, signed with a variant of Yeh Chung San and the seal: Yin, measuring 3 ins. with glass top and spoon. Yeh Chung San WAs a famous snuff bottle artist who worked from 1892 -1912. His sons and followers continued to produce high quality bottles signed with his name up until the 1950s. (see Snuff Bottles of China, Hugh M. Moss. p. 53) I believe that this bottle is a later one done by his followers. It is extremely well painted and similar in concept to bottles produced by this group. A fine snuff bottle for the serious collector.

117

19th c. Double Porcelain Snuff Bottle This Chinese snuff bottle was made of porcelain in the late Ching dynasty, or late 19th century and measures approximately 2 1/4 ins. high. It is made in an unusual double, or two bottle design with underglaze blue landscape decoration. Decoration such as this was introduced in the late Ming period and gradually faded out in popularity until the 19th century. Although the style of painting is of the Ming period, I believe the bottles are late Ching. The tops are made of stone -- not sure if they are jade -- and the spoons are intact. There is a small, old footrim chip as shown. This is not a modern copy! Add this unusual snuff bottle to your collection!
