2016

Pair of Large 19th c. Cloisonne Elephants A pair of Chinese cloisonne elephants, standing 13 ins. tall and 7 ins. across, dating to the mid to late 19th century. The bodies appear to have been made of a copper alloy as seen in the tusks and the ends of the trunks and tails. The bodies have the typical mulitcolor enamel on turquoise blue of these pieces. There is some mild pitting of the pink enamel that looks like it has been present since manufacture. The exposed copper surfaces have darkened and patinated with age. This is an unusual set of old elephants in fine and original condition.
