Tibetan Thangka A Tibetan Thangka or Buddhist religious painting on cloth, measuring 26 x 19 inches, 40 x 30 exterior dimensions, dating to the early 20th century. The Thangka is hand painted with gold leaf and pigment on silk, then attached to a heavier canvas. "Thangka" is a transliteration from the Tibetan language. The word is used generally to represent various kind of paintings of Buddha figures and themes. Thangkas were used as part of the worship service in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. The main parts of Thangka are based on the images and stories of Buddha. They may also contain some historical legends. The drawing style of a Thangka is unique with a striking and contrasting colors that make it looks gorgeous and life like.

Bronze Indian Deity <p><b>A fine gilded metal statue of a four-armed Indian deity measuring 5 ins. tall, probably dating to this century.</b> The figure appears to be standing on a lion. This appears to us to be bronze but it may be another alloy - we have not tested it. There is loss of the gilding as shown.
