This cup and saucer set was made by the New Hall company of Staffordshire potters that operated in Shelton, England.

They began producing hard paste porcelain wares, predominantly for tea, in the last quarter of the 18th century, continuing on into the 19th century. Typical designs were in the Chinese famille rose floral style. Most pieces are not marked. This cup is made without a handle, again characteristic of the style and period of the late 18th - early 19th century. The cup measures 3” across and just under 2” in height. The saucer measures 5 1/2” across. The set is flawless and will delight the serious collector of early English porcelain. (For similar examples see Sotheby’s Concise Encyclopedia of Porcelain, ed. David Battie, London, 1990.)
