The spout and rim areas have been clobbered, or enhanced with gold. The design of the item as a miniature coffeepot leads me to believe that this was meant to be part of a child’s set. The coffeepot is in original and excellent condition with no evidence of damage or repairs. A fine, period example of late 19th century Chinese export porcelain.
