A gorgeous pair of Chinese vases made for the mantle of molded lacquer resin over brass bodies, covered with orange/red cinnabar designed with two panels of birds and flowers amidst overall Greek key and scrollwork designs. These vases were initially molded, then finished by hand, in a manner of production in use since the Han Dynasty, so it is impossible to date them accurately. I suspect that they are early to mid 20th century. The quality of workmanship and attention to detail are evident in these lovely vases. They are in excellent condition with no evidence of damage. |
