A fine Japanese six-sided studio bowl with a crane design, measuring 8 ins. across by 3 ins. high, dating to the early to mid 20th century. The piece is made of an earthenware body, covered on the exterior with a dark brown/black glaze and on the interior with a crackle blue glaze and figure of a stork among the reeds in white and green overglaze enamels. It bears the artist’s seal impressed on the base. It is in fine and original condition, having one small chip of the blue interior glaze professionally restored. I can’t find it with magnification. |
