A Japanese studio bowl, measuring approximately 8 X 3 ins., dating to the early to mid 20th century. This bowl has a buff body with a finely crackled cream glaze overall. It is sparsely decorated with a bamboo node and leaves in two shades of dark green. The artist has executed this drawing skillfully in a sumi-e style. The rim is glazed black. The bowl is most likely Satsuma in origin, given the body and glaze as well as thhe signature on the base, which reads ? ZAN. It is in fine and original condition.
