A Japanese ginbari cloisonne vase in cylindrical form measuring 8 1/2 ins. high, 3 ins. at the base, and 2 ins. at the mouth, dating to the early 20th century. The brass body is covered with silver foil followed by a rich, red glass enamel. The artist has included a branch of bamboo in green. The rims are silver mounted. The vase has a 1 in. bruise at the right, lower base of the bamboo that has been filled. This shows only in bright light when the vase is held at an angle. It is unsigned, but is typical of pieces from the Ando workshop.
